Disparity on land access is one of the major causes for social and gender inequalities in rural areas, and it jeopardizes, as a consequence, rural food security as well as the wellbeing of individuals and families. The database offers information in 6 categories: national legal frame, international treaties and conventions, customary law, land tenure and related institutions, civil society organizations, and selected land-related statistics.

The coordinators of the Portal will thereby act as editors to display information in a way that makes it more digestible, through tagging and aggregating it according to country or topic, and summarizing and synthesizing. The portal will be designed together with the organizations producing the information and the user community of the portal. It will be an open space for information sharing, in which, according to agreed-upon criteria by the partners, anyone can access, add or update information. As such the portal hopes to generate dicussion around land information with the aim of improving it.

Market Financing for Biodiversity Conservation and Strategic Tradeoffs for Wildlife-friendly Eco-labels
Consumers buying products labeled “eco-friendly” may hope to help conserve the environment, yet the credibility of eco-labels varies.
